"For 2010, however, the Outback branches out, using a unique bodyshell instead of borrowing one from the Legacy wagon (which is no longer sold in North America, but is still offered in Subaru's home market). "  Are you sure about that because all photos I've seen of the JDM Legacy Wagon show a car with the same body as the Outback, just a different front clip and grill. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:5th_Subaru_Legacy_1.jpg

Personally, I don't like the grill design that's shared with the Tribeca and Forrester.

After more than seventeen years of driving Legacy wagons, the company's decision to drop them in favor of the Outback has led me to ditch Subaru. While I need the cargo capacity of a wagon, I still want the driving dynamics and clean looks of a passenger car. The only time I go off-road is in parking lots and driveways. I've never needed or wanted the 'active-lifestyle' pretensions of Outback, with its outsized roof-racks and corrugated cladding mucking up the car's looks and aerodynamics, and its jacked-up suspension shredding the 'low center of gravity' claims of the boxer engine. Frankly, this new Outback has to be the homeliest product from Subaru since the misbegotten Baja. But never mind, I've just taken delivery of an Audi A4 Avant.

The roof rack is cute and innovative but in reality it sucks. It would be dangerous to carry a boat thats more than 12 feet long due to the limited bra spread. After market rack systems will NOT improve the bar spread. Its a show stopper if you are a boater.

worst roof rack ever
