What a terrible technical editor. First of all...it is a 6.0 V12. Secondly, the 65 engine is rated at 604hp SAE (612 DIN/PS HP). But the greatest error in this article is the comment "low-end torque is irrelevant once you're moving along in first gear". Sooo...I guess really good low-end torque has no bearing on acceleration when you shift into 2nd...3rd or 4th? You do realize that upshift cause the rpm's to drop...right? Do you also realize that HP is derived from the following equation:

HP = (torque (lb-ft) x RPM)/5252

What does this tell you? Well, if the 65 is upshifting ..the rpms will drop into the low 3K rpm range...right in the torque sweet spot. This "low-end torque" will be giving you high horsepower at lower RPM...how is that not benefical beyond 1st gear.  Given your dyno figures and plugging the peak torque #'s...the SL65 BS is making 470rwhp at 3,620RPM. That is certainly benefiting your pursuit of great acceleration times...regardless what gear you are in.
