Months in Fleet: Nine
Mileage to Date: 20,620 miles

Within days of the official end of summer, our Cube ticked past the 20,000-mile mark and did so with flying (Caribbean blue) colors. A quick blast to Michigan's west coast for a surfing excursion seemed like a great ending to the little Nissan's busy travel schedule over the last few months, and associate editor Eric Tingwall and friends were happy to oblige. The Cube shook off its small, city-car pretentions, donned a surfboard-friendly roof rack, and hit the beach. It looked right at home in the sand, its bright blue paint blending into the sunny skies and the water of Lake Michigan. "As often as manufacturers have aimed to create the living room on wheels, I think Nissan is the first to truly nail it," opined Tingwall. "With the windows down and a breeze pulling through the airy cabin, I could be content just listening to music from the reclined rear bench for hours. I don't know that I'd say that about any other car."

Once again, this time on the shores of Lake Michigan, the Cube showed us that utility doesn't have to be expensive or come in a big, heavy package. It's also a testament to the Cube's ability to adapt to a wide range of environments while still providing a laid-back stylish place to spend time.
