Months in fleet: three
Miles to date: 8978

Another month, another 4000 miles for our Audi Q5. It continues to be the hot choice for weekend excursions and has challenged our BMW 7-series as the most requested four-seasons vehicle for road trips. The Quattro all-wheel-drive system and Michelin snow tires make it an excellent choice for winter driving, while heated seats and a cozy interior make it a comfortable one.

President and editor-in-chief Jean Jennings recently spent time getting to know our new compact crossover, taking it on a trip to Louisiana to go hunting and fishing. "The white exterior is a cheerful, bright greeting on a gloomy, gray day," she noted, adding, "It's a very pleasing, compact and stylish exterior with the usually elegant, thoughtful interior."

Included in that interior is Audi's MMI system, which Jennings says is the best version from Audi yet. "Why doesn't everyone follow Audi's lead and let you search stations and see what's playing without changing what you're listening to? So cool!" Not all the comments have been positive, however. From Technical editor Don Sherman: "The rear view is restricted by the small window, sloping roof, and the forest of headrests." He also expressed his disgust at the Q5's premium fuel requirement with a simple equation: "Premium gas + poor mileage = one expensive ride."

Aside from premium fuel, our Q5 has asked only for a 5000-mile service. Otherwise it has been working non-stop, and looks like it might be on track to set a record for highest mileage during a four-seasons test.
