Months in Fleet: 11
After a summer filled with trips to the East Coast and throughout the Midwest, the EX started the fall with a reasonably restful month in Michigan, putting on "only" a thousand miles.
At home amongst our wide and varied fleet of vehicles, the EX, especially as it nears the end of its time with us, can sometimes slip rather far down the car sign-out list. It lacks the raw appeal of our sportier test cars, but doesn't offer the furniture-hauling utility that keeps the likes of our Dodge Ram in constant demand. Still, those who got the keys, including production editor Jennifer Misaros, saw little reason to complain.
"The EX35 is a vehicle that might not be in high demand on weekends, but when you end up driving it home on Friday you don't feel like you've drawn the short straw. It's quick, agile, and, despite its swept back proportions, is easy to see out of, making it a great companion for around town trips. On the highway, the 297-hp V-6 is more than powerful enough to pull off quick passing maneuvers although the transmission is sometimes a bit slow to downshift upon sudden jabs of the throttle."
When technical editor Don Sherman had a turn with the car, he folded down the rear seats and found there was plenty of room for a full-length, headless mannequin (a prop for Halloween, he claims).
"For most folks and most jobs, there's more than ample space here," he reported.
The EX also used its R&R time to get an oil change and a routine inspection. That's about all the attention the car has required in its time in our fleet. ...next page >>
