Just a beautiful, composed, powerful, lush car - the proverbial velvet fist. Power delivery is immediate as are the brakes, which are very nicely modulated.
The interior is beautiful. The navigation system/screen is a great example of how a touch screen should work. It's easy to find your way in, and has a one-touch "home" exit. I'm glad to see the proximity button for the glovebox works better now than on early production examples. The no-touch overhead lights likewise are less sensitive than Job One. The dial shifter has never annoyed me. The shift paddles move with the steering wheel and feel good. I love the steering wheel controls. The suspension sucks up bumpy road.
The A/C BLASTS, as does the Bowers & Wilkins sound system. This is a car fit for royalty.

The XF is a surprising amount of fun. I felt like I was driving a Mad Maxx car. I love the supercharger sound. I also like the simplicity of the interior; everything seems to function well, and I would imagine after a short time that it would not be at all confusing to operate.all confusion would be gone. Regarding the exterior styling, I love everything except the flare. The front end doesn't look special enough though.

The XF is wonderfully composed, with a class-leading combination of ride comfort and handling. I like the supercharger whine and the big burst of acceleration that's on tap - as long as you keep the revs at the right point and you're in the correct gear. I did find the paddle shift useful in the car for bombing over back roads.

The XF's biggest accomplishment is that it is a very good car that beats the Germans without feeling German. It still has that lovely organic, perfectly damped Jaguar feel. The steering is one of the best in the business. Some may wish for a bit more weight and slightly more feel, but the on-center feel is nearly perfect. The chassis is just so good. I can't believe how well it rides despite its twenty-inch wheels.
My issues with the XF include a slow touch screen, styling that isn't aggressive enough, and questionable build quality. Plus, they need to build a wagon version.

"Grace, space, pace" the Jaguar advertisements said in the old days. The XF is a little lacking in the first term, a little excessive in the second, and absolutely over the top in the third.
This is a lovely car, perhaps the best Jaguar ever. Nothing broke, nothing went wrong, it was reasonable if not really good for fuel economy cruising down the highway, and it was outstanding in ride comfort. The electronics seemed slow, but not the steering or chassis response, which certainly matter more. I had no occasion to brake really hard, but in normal use they were reassuring. I did make a couple of maximum-effort starts, and these were drama free and mightily impressive.
The XF is not groundbreaking nor is it a style leader by any means - it is absolutely generic viewed from behind - but it looks good and attracts a lot of attention. I received quite a few questions when I stopped for fuel.
I hope it is as successful in the marketplace as it needs to be, because it would be a shame to see Jaguar disappear, which it surely would have done under Ford tutelage.

The XF is a surprisingly nice car that's awesomely fun to drive and a pretty damn good value. The styling grows on me every time I see it on the road. Some may find the interior flair tedious, but I think the shifter, overhead lights, etc. are pretty cool. The glove box doesn't work very consistently unless you do it juuuusst right. Great gearbox. Elegantly refined yet sporty, the XF definitely has a place in my current dream garage.

Aside from puttering around suburban Phoenix a bit last winter, this is my first real experience with the XF. Exterior design still doesn't really do it for me; the interior (of this example) is striking, but laid out more to appease a designer's eye than to promote ease of use.
But never mind all that. What a wonderful, fluid machine this is to drive. Chassis, steering, and throttle are all beautifully matched in their feel. Fast and smooth just comes naturally. Very, very nice.

Perhaps the first Jag sedan in decades that truly feels special. The styling may be subjective (in areas, it does feel too derivative), but the smooth crescendo of supercharged power, coupled with nearly-flawless dynamics, warrants the continual use of superlatives. Sir William would certainly approve.
