It’s a tradition almost as old as the automobile itself, and that’s upgrading and hot-rodding your existing ride. Sometimes that would mean third-party aftermarket parts, sometimes it’s parts from a higher-trim model that bolt on to your humdrum entry-level model. If you’re an owner of a 2010 or newer Camaro V-6 or SS, Chevrolet Performance now offers a host of parts from its big-dog ZL1 for both Camaro V-6 and SS V-8 models.
If you routinely like tackling mountain passes or take your Camaro to the track, the heavier-duty larger brakes from the Camaro ZL1. The ZL1 brakes are offered a la carte as separate front and rear packages for the SS model, and as a four-wheel kit for the V-6 model. An upgrade to the SS brakes is also available for V-6 models.
The 1LE Track Pack is available for V-6 and SS models, which includes a larger front and rear stabilizer bar, front struts, and monotube rear shocks. The kit works seamlessly with the factory StabiliTrak system, and does not void the factory warranty.
If you want to get a little more involved with your tuning, a cam and head kit for V-8 powered models is available which includes CNC-ported LS3 heads and a high-lift LS7 camshaft. The kit fits on all Gen-IV small-blocks with a 4-inch and larger bore.
If that’s still not enough, you can purchase the full ZL1 driveline including 9.9-inch rear ring and pinion with limited slip differential in a heavy-duty cast iron housing, asymmetrical driveshafts, and is available for both automatic and manual V-6 and V-8 models. Prices are not yet listed. See your Chevrolet dealer for further details.
