You Tease: Is An F1-Inspired Infiniti FX Debuting In Frankfurt?

Our friends at Infiniti tell us they’ll have something new to show at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show next month — but instead of saying exactly what’s in store, we’re told a new video provides some clues. If so, expect to see a 2012 FX crossover customized by Red Bull Racing F1 driver Sebastian Vettel.

The clip is fleeting, at best, but shows Vettel sitting down with Shiro Nakamura, Nissan’s chief creative officer and vice president of design, to pour over some details. Blink twice and you’ll miss it, but photos on the table suggest the two are discussing some form of the FX crossover. Vettel shows off several parts from his F1, including the pedal box and the button-laden steering wheel. We hear talk of a matte grey interior, along with some interior accents — perhaps even a steering wheel that looks a little less “normal.”

So, what to make of this? Our best guess is that we’ll be seeing something along the lines of an F1-inspired/ Vettel-designed crossover within the next few weeks. Whether or not that will translate into a production model — or even cross the ‘pond into North America — remains to be seen.

Pity, though, that we won’t be seeing something along the lines of the rumored RBR-engineered sports car.
