Watch This Robotic Charger Plug in to a Tesla Model S

The future is now.

You know, with all of the recent buzz about the impending Tesla Model X SUV, the Nevada-based gigafactory, and the sub-Model S sedan model, you would think both founder and owner Elon Musk would have his hands full. Apparently not, as Tesla just released a video of a bizarre prototype of a robotic charging snake which is able to automatically connect to the charging port of the Model S.

Strangely, we have known this was in the works since December of last year, when Elon tweeted that Tesla was developing a movable charger prototype that automatically connects to the car's side-mounted charging port.

The robotic charging tentacle stems from the idea that a Tesla Model S owner could conceivably pull into a garage or charging station, and position the Tesla vehicle within range of the robot. Then, the robot would do its job, and find its way down to the charging port, saving the owner a bit of time.

Following the initial announcement in December, Elon stated in a later tweet that the robot will be compatible with every Tesla model moving forward, so owners of the conceptual Model X needn't fear over being left behind in the forward progression of robotized vehicle chargers.

Take a look at Elon's solution for Tesla charging in the video below.
