The production version of the Volkswagen Beetle Fender will debut at the Auto Mobil International show in Leipzig, Germany starting June 2 alongside the Scirocco GTS, CC R Line, and CrossPolo Urban White concepts. Only the Beetle Fender has been announced for the U.S.
The Beetle Fender concept shown at the Frankfurt auto show last year will finally become a production reality when it goes on sale in the U.S. this fall ahead of a European release. Audiophiles may enjoy the Beetle’s 400-watt 10-channel Fender audio system with nine speakers, including four tweeters; two 7.8-inch front speakers; two 6.3-inch rear speakers; and a 7.8-inch dual-voice coil subwoofer. The dashboard matches the iconic guitars with its two-tone “sunburst” finish while the interior gets contrasting stitching and exclusive fabric seat inserts. Beetle Fender models powered by the 200-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter get unique seat inserts. Outside, the Beetle Fender gets Deep Black Metallic paint with 18-inch “disc” alloy wheels, brushed chrome side mirrors, chrome Fender logo, and HID headlights. Volkswagen also offers the Fender audio system in the U.S.-spec Jetta GLI.
The Volkswagen Scirocco GTS celebrates 30 years since the first Scirocco GTS rolled off the assembly line, with white paint set off by black racing stripes accented by narrow red stripes that cover the hood, roof, and rear hatch. Custom front and rear bumpers complement exposed side sills, a rear diffuser, and roof spoiler. Red brake calipers peer from behind 18-inch “Thunder” alloy wheels. A 207-hp version of the automaker’s turbocharged 2.0-liter powers the GTS. Inside, the interior is trimmed in black leather with red stitching. Volkswagen says the Scirocco GTS’ “dimpled golf-ball” shift knob pays homage to the original 1982 Scirocco GTS and the first Golf GTI.
