2005 Aston Martin Vanquish S

[cars name="Aston Martin"] has taken a step to put a bit of breathing room in between its mirror-image, six-figure, twelve-cylinder GTs-the DB9 and the Vanquish-by introducing a new, top-spec version of the latter, the Vanquish S. The Vanquish’s 5.9-liter V-12 here gets revised cylinder heads for better breathing, which helps bump output by 60 hp and 25 lb-ft to 520 horsepower and 425 pound-feet. The more potent powerplant combines with a shorter final drive ratio to improve acceleration: 0-62 mph is now 4.8 seconds; 0-100 is 9.8. Top speed climbs from a mere 190 mph to “over 200.” Backing up the more powerful engine is the Sports Dynamic suspension (stiffer springs and dampers, quicker steering) and larger brakes. Exterior changes are far more subtle, likely to do little to alleviate parking valets’ confusion between the $250,000+ Vanquish and the $100k-less-expensive DB9.
