Toyota chief test driver Hiromu Naruse tragically passed away earlier this year and a video has been released to honor his life and achievements.
Naruse was killed June 23 earlier this year near the Nürburgring while testing the Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition. He remains a well-respected developmental and racing driver and is believed to have done more miles on the ‘Ring than any other Japanese driver in history. His input was fed into many Toyota vehicles, including the LFA.
The video took care to highlight some of Naruse’s best works, displaying the following positions and vehicles he championed in his 47 years of Toyota service:
Mechanic — 1965 Toyota Sports 800, 1967 Toyota 2000GT
Chief engineer — 1970 Toyota 7 Group 7 race car, 1971 Toyota Celica
