Toyota Venza Sportlux Debuts at 2008 SEMA Show

Though it’s known as the home to trucked-out trucks or monstrous muscle cars, the 2008 SEMA show in Las Vegas will host the 2009 Toyota Venza Sportlux – a street tuner’s take on Toyota’s upcoming crossover.

Built in partnership with vehicle customizer Street Image, the Venza Sportlux is an interesting beast. The folks at Street Image wanted to create a vehicle that combines the feel of a sports car without sacrificing the utility of the Venza – and they may have done just that. Certainly, it carries a sporty look, thanks in part to a lowered suspension, custom-built six-piece body kit, and a scooped carbon fiber hood.
Thankfully, there may also be a touch of sport under the hood, too. Courtesy of Toyota Racing Development (TRD), a supercharger is bolted to the Venza’s 2.7-liter I-4. TRD also donated a custom disc brake system, complete with 15-inch front rotors peeking from behind the massive 24-inch Chrome Cognac alloy wheels.
While Street Image envisioned the Venza Sportlux as a vehicle that could be offered as a factory-built model, we’re doubtful that many of the modifications – including the all-leather interior and a custom audio system from Kicker – will arrive at a Toyota dealership as OEM equipment anytime soon.
