Update: Toyota has released two more teasers for the 2014 Corolla. We now have a look at the sedan’s grille badge and lower front fascia. It is now clear that the production car will carry over the large lower intake and thin upper grille from the Corolla Furia concept, down to the upper-grille plastic webbing; however, the lower intake looks a little less flared and radical than on the concept.
The slow tease has begun for the 2014 Toyota Corolla leading up to its June 6 debut. A single close-up image posted on Toyota USA’s Facebook page reveals the upcoming car’s taillight shape, and shows a clear Toyota Furia influence.
The photo shows the underside of the passenger-side taillight, which tapers inward and appears to wrap around the outside like the Furia. If that concept previews the next-gen Corolla, we could also see features like a long, slender front grille and sloping roofline hit the production version. The Chinese-market Toyota Yundong Shuangqing II hybrid sedan concept, which sported Furia styling cues and a wide Avalon-like front valance opening when it was revealed last month, could also hint at the next Corolla’s design.
We’ll have to wait and see what styling influences the 2014 Toyota Corolla inherits, but you can bet this won’t be the last we’ll see of the compact before its official reveal next month. Stay tuned.
