Toyota Prius MPV

The third-generation Toyota Prius will soon be getting another family member in the form of a larger people mover style vehicle. According to a recent Automotive News report, the new car will be called the Prius-V and will more than likely feature a larger cargo area and more room for second-row passengers.

From the looks of the teaser image above, the so-called Prius-V may have enough space to go-head-to-head with other MPVs like the 2012 Mazda5 and the soon-to-arrive Ford C-Max. In addition to the Prius people mover, Toyota is also reportedly set to display a Prius concept vehicle and its new plug-in Prius at Detroit. The trio of Prius hybrids leave little doubt that Toyota is embarking on its long-rumored plan to develop the Prius name into its own sub-brand.
