TomTom Launches Limited-Edition Top Gear GPS

Navigation system manufacturer TomTom has released a special Top Gear-themed GPS device. Called the TomTom GO LIVE Top Gear Edition, the new in-car GPS features a bevy of alterations to satisfy even the most hard-core TG fan.

The changes begin with new Top Gear loading screens and icons for the GPS, as well as a lengthy list of racetracks — including the location of the Top Gear test track in the U.K. On top of that, the GPS adds two special voices. The first is that of host Jeremy Clarkson, who directs you to your destination with his usual dose of sarcasm and wit. The second is called Stig Mode, named for the show’s anonymous racing driver. Just as the real-life Stig is man of few words, selecting Stig Mode silences your TomTom.

Some say the Top Gear GPS runs on premium fuel and does powerslides in its spare time. All we know is, it has a 5.0-inch screen, Bluetooth phone connectivity, intelligent routing based on traffic conditions, seven million points of interest, lifetime map updates, and access to information like fuel prices and weather forecasts.

The TomTom GO LIVE Top Gear Edition retails for $269.95. We think that’s a fair price to pay for what could be the best GPS… in the world.
