We’d heard Tesla Motors intended to add veterans of the automotive industry to their ranks, and with the recent hiring of two more executives, we’d say they’re making good on that promise.
The first, Franz von Holzhausen, was announced as Tesla’s first design director.; Prior to his appointment, von Holzhausen was the design director at Mazda’s U.S. R&D Design Center in Irvine, California, and was in charge of developing the Nagare, Ryuga, and Furai concept cars.
Soon afterwards, Tesla also announced the hiring of Deepak Ahuja as the firm’s new chief financial officer.; Ahuja was most recently the controller of Ford’s program to bring European small cars to the U.S. market, and previously the CFO of Ford of Southern Africa. He has also served as the CFO for Auto Alliance, the manufacturing joint venture between Ford and Mazda.
Both appointments come after Tesla’s hiring of Mike Donoughe, a former Chrysler engineer and executive, as vice president of engineering and manufacturing.
