Teased: This Is The 2013 Lexus LS F Sport

We know that Lexus will reveal the new 2013 LS luxury sedan next week, and this image posted to the company’s Facebook page is a clear look at the new model. Based on the aggressive front fascia design of this sedan, this picture probably previews the new Lexus LS F Sport model.

When Lexus announced the 2013 LS sedan earlier this month, the company promised that there would be a new LS460 F Sport model. In recent months the company has created F Sport variants of models like the RX crossover, GS sedan, and CT hatchback; they usually wear more aggressive body kits and have sportier suspension tuning. Lexus also confirmed that the other three existing LS sedan models would return: LS460, LS460L, and LS600hL.

The car teased here has the hourglass-like “spindle grille” seen on other new Lexus models, as well as a bulging hood, big wheels, and large lower air intakes — all signs that point to this being a sportier model.More tellingly, this official Facebook teaser bears a strong resemblance to the Lexus LS F Sport images that leaked on a Chinese website earlier this week.

Based on the fact that Lexus previously promised a model called LS460 F Sport, we think the sportier version will have a the same 4.6-liter V-8 engine as the current LS460 and LS460L (pictured below). Given its performance intentions, however, it’s possible that the F Sport will improve upon the engine’s current power ratings of 380 hp and 367 lb-ft of torque. The LS600hL hybrid, meanwhile, combines a 5.0-liter V-8 engine and an electric motor.

A Lexus spokesperson this morning confirmed that the Facebook image does show the 2013 LS F Sport. The company has promised it will fully reveal the new car on Monday, July 30, at 11:30 p.m. Eastern time. Check in with then for full details.
