We’ve just read over Subaru’s plans for the 2010 Geneva motor show — in addition to showcasing its Hybrid Tourer concept from the 2009 Toyko show, the Japanese automaker is debuting a new Impreza XV model — a crossover model which will be offered exclusively in Europe.
So, what’s so “crossover” about it? Subaru says it sports a new grille, unique two-tone paint job, flared wheel arches, a roof rack, and a rear spoiler. Power will come from your choice of either a 2.0-liter gasoline or turbo-diesel flat-four.
Sound a lot like the existing Outback Sport model (pictured)? You’re not alone. In fact, Autocar suggests the XV is likely to be based on the North American model, although Australian publication The Motor Report suggests the model may grow somewhat taller and wider. Regardless, it’s likely a niche Subaru wants filled in Europe as soon as possible, seeing as Mitsubishi is launching its new RVR/ASX/Outlander Sport in the market this year.
Subaru has yet to release any official images or details of the Impreza XV yet, but we’ll have them for you as soon as they break from the show floor. Stay with Automobile Magazine for the latest news surrounding the Geneva motor show.
