Our first drive of the 2012 Ford Focus might still be some months away, but Ford is quickly moving closer to production of its new global C-segment car. With the first home-grown preproduction models making their way off the line in Michigan, Ford has released a video of its capable small car circling its proving grounds in Dearborn.
In the video (still clip shown above), the Focus is seen lapping the track at Ford’s Dearborn proving grounds. Although we’ve already previewed the 2012 model at the 2010 Detroit auto show, this is one of the first clips of the sedan in motion. Ford promises that the new Focus will share 80 percent of its parts across global markets, so the vehicle is a good indication of what we’ll soon see on highways across the United States.
The high-performance Focus ST five-door hatchback, which promises 240 horsepower and a scorching body kit, is set to debut at the Paris Motor Show next week. While this video isn’t a full-force wringing-out of the Focus, based on the fun-to-drive factor in the Euro-tuned Fiesta hatchback, we have high hopes for the new car, and can’t wait to hear the wail from the turbocharged four of the ST.
