An updated 2015 Ford Expedition is on the way, and we just got a good first look at the large SUV’s interior. When the 2015 Expedition arrives in 2014, the updated SUV will do battle with the redesigned 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, in both regular and EL extended-wheelbase forms.
As on the 2014 Ford Expedition, the 2015 model has storage space on the top of the dash, with huge silver-finished panels lining the center stack. An updated steering wheel should be appreciated by buyers, as will a newer instrument cluster design. An engine stop-start system is visible, suggesting the 2015 Expedition may offer hands-free keyless entry as well.
A larger touch-screen display with MyFord Touch fills the top of this 2015 Ford Expedition prototype’s center stack, while on the outside, there’s no hiding the SUV’s unapologetically big and boxy styling. The 2015 Ford Expedition EL spotted testing will do battle with the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban.
Under the hood, the 2015 Ford Expedition may benefit from a 365-hp version of the 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V-6. Given that the four-wheel-drive version of the outgoing Expedition can’t reach 20 mpg on the highway in EPA testing, replacing the old 310-hp 5.4-liter V-8 might be a good move. A V-8 is a possibility, too. Don’t expect a full redesign from the 2015 Ford Expedition, but we’re guessing long-time Ford customers will happily accept some updates over none at all.
