After reading Lotus’ leaked memo about the forthcoming Evora S, we were hoping a spy photographer would manage to capture the prototype as it tests on the Nürburgring this week. Our wishes came true, it seems, as Motor Trend has photos of an Evora S mule hitting the ‘Ring.
At this point, the S doesn’t look all that different from a standard Evora — the only major change we can spot lies with a new rear diffuser panel. We wouldn’t be surprised to see a few additional cosmetic tweaks added before launch, but even so, we’re more interested to see what’s underhood.
In stock form, Evoras make do with a mildly revised form of Toyota’s 3.5-liter V-6, which manages to produce 276 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. We wouldn’t be too surprised if the S treatment adds a supercharger to this six-banger, possibly escalating power to 350 horsepower.
We’ll know for certain in September, when the Evora S, the Evora Automatic, and a “mystery car” — likely the Esprit replacement — will debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. Stay with Automobile Magazine for the latest Lotus news.
