Snap Judgment: Are You Going to Wait for a Factory Chevrolet Camaro Z28?

Last week, we asked you which muscle car currently stands at the top of the heap. With sales of the 2011 Ford Mustang slightly ahead of the Chevrolet Camaro, we’ve also recently seen a boom in tuner Camaros, presumably to make up for a lack of a factory Z28 model.

Today’s news of the Camaro HPE1000, a Camaro that throws down more than 1000 horsepower through the rear wheels on the dyno, elevates the game by quite a few notches. Assuming you live near a filling station that carries C16 racing fuel, you, too, can replicate the results of the YouTube video.

Although there are several drawbacks to the HPE1000, from the semi-prohibitive cost of racing fuel to the whopping $65,000 premium on top of a donor Camaro SS, it might just be the ultimate expression of unadulterated American muscle. That is, until we see a Z28 package from the factory.

But is it worth the wait? We know the Camaro is hot, and there’s certainly nothing wrong with a hotter one.
