Amid thumping electronic music at the 2013 Specialty Equipment Market Association show, Kia today pulled the wraps of its latest tuner concept cars. This year, the 2014 Kia Soul was the company’s star SEMA show attraction.
The first of the five 2014 Kia Soul concepts is inspired by the NBC talent show “The Voice.” Kia has sponsored the show for four seasons, and paid tribute with this customized car. The interior has special red leather chairs that mimic the shows’s judges’ chairs, plus it’s trademark, “I want you” light in the front lower grille.
The Music Memorabilia Kia Soul was designed with Rides Magazine and features a rolling homage to all styles of music. In the hatch, the displays include a guitar signed by rocker Slash, G-Unit sneakers signed by rapper 50 Cent, and a golden microphone autographed by John Legend.
As six-time sponsor of the Vans Warped music tour, Kia also paid homage to the music festival with a Soul that has fiberglass speaker housings in every window opening. Remarkably, the power windows still work to expose the speakers to the outside world. Out back, a slide-out barbecue allows for grilling at your favorite concert.
The 2014 Kia Soul DJ lacks a roof, because a hole was cut to allow a DJ to stand on a platform and spin turntables mounted above the front seats. There are even speakers in the front grille so that DJ Danny can better blast dance music across the SEMA show floor.
The final modified car is the 2014 Kia Soul Amped, a rolling concert stage with four JBL 12-inch subwoofers and all the amplifiers necessary for a portable rock concert. To demonstrate, Kia had rocker Leona X shred a guitar on the display stand.
