Saab Introduces New 9-5 Sedan with YouTube Video

You won’t see the slogan “Born from Jets” anywhere in this Saab video. Fresh under new ownership, the Swedish automaker is preparing to roll out its 9-5 sedan and has released a tranquil YouTube video to show off its newest ride.

The one-minute video displays the 9-5’s new sheetmetal before taking to the streets for some rolling footage. As the HID lighting and Saab machinery waft across the screen, the background music serenades the viewer with some soft guitar and piano, combined with lyrics suggesting “It’s going to be alright.” After enduring an uncertain future and surviving when others have been left to oblivion, perhaps the new Saab video is an indication of better things to come.

The Trollhättan-based automaker will send the 9-5 to United States showrooms next month, with only the top-level trim available at launch. Pricing starts from $49,990, including destination, for the Aero model with the 300-horsepower, 2.8-liter V-6. A four-cylinder-equipped 9-5 will come shortly after with a sub-$40,000 price tag.

The song used in the video is “Time for Takeoff” by Sydney Wayser.
