Run-of-the-Mill C63 AMG Tuned by Edo Competition Outpowers Black Series Edition

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series coupe is fast, but not necessarily the most practical car available. The folks at Edo Competition, however, have not only tuned a C63 AMG to produce more power than the Black Series model, but did so using a wagon.

Edo performed a long list of modifications under the hood including a high-performance exhaust system, exhaust headers, high-flow catalytic converters, new air filters, and a revised ECU. The tuner claims a total output of 591 hp and 501 lb-ft of torque. By comparison, the “normal” C63 AMG puts out 451 hp and 443 lb-ft, while the Black Series coupe produces 510 hp and 457 lb-ft. Edo estimates a 0-62 mph time of 4.1 seconds, which is a few ticks faster than Benz’s estimates for the C63 AMG coupe, but a few ticks slower than the Black Series model estimates.

If that wasn’t enough, Edo also removed the top-speed governor and claims its vehicle should reach a top speed of about 211 mph. The car will also have a sweet soundtrack to match its stronger mill, thanks to electronically controlled butterfly valves within the exhaust system. When a certain level of back pressure is reached, the valves open to improve the exhaust note. Rounding off the hardware changes are 19-inch, multi-piece wheels wrapped in Michelin high-performance tires.

Inside, Edo has added a generous amount of carbon fiber trim. Given a choice, would you go with a modified wagon like this Edo-tuned Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG or a stock E63 AMG wagon?
