Whether you’re a fan of American muscle or high-dollar European machinery, this week’s video roundup has something for everyone. Ace driver Justin Bell takes both the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG to the track, and offers his impressions of the two high-horse rides, and Formula One Star and Infiniti engineering consultant Sebastian Vettel visits our offices.

The Wide Open Throttle regulars of Angus MacKenzie, Jonny Lieberman and Carlos Lago were joined again this week by the stars of Roadkill and Hot Rod Unlimited, David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan to add their hands-on performance perspective to the conversation. The show kicks off with a discussion of the Volvo S60 T6 vs. the Audi S4, with the consensus that the VW Group’s deep pockets and engineering expertise made it almost impossible for Volvo to pull off an upset. Add the Audi’s inherently more high-performance seven-speed dual clutch, and the competition was almost over before it started.
Feature Flick: Epic Drive In 2013 Jaguar XFR-S to Circuit of the Americas
Jaguar has always had a reputation for deftly balancing a smooth, compliant ride, with capable performance under the whip, a combination unmatched by almost any other marque with the possible exception of its Bavarian rival, BMW. Although the Gulf Coast of the American Southeast may not seem like the ideal testing grounds for the 2013 Jaguar XFR-S, the fastest production sedan in the marque’s history, Motor Trend’s Arthur St. Antoine made good use of the big cat’s highway manners in an entertaining tour of the third coast, starting off at Sebring, the site of Jaguar’s first motorsports victory in the U.S. in 1955.
Feature Flick: Mercedes SLS AMG GT on Track With Justin Bell
After taking viewers on a tour of some of Hollywood’s favorite movie roads, Justin Bell takes the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT to the racetrack to see how well it performs unrestrained. Bell introduces the SLS AMG GT before heading down some of L.A.’s streets used in many Hollywood movies. The host visits such popular filming locations as Grand Ave., the 2nd St. Tunnel, and the 6th St. Bridge. After the guided tour, Bell heads to Willow Springs Raceway to see how it behaves on the road course.
Feature Flick: SRT Advertises Its Body and Soul
SRT is looking to appeal to car enthusiasts. That should come as no surprise, given that the brand’s flagship model is the V-10-powered 2014 Viper and its other four models only offer 6.4-liter V-8 engines. This week, Chrysler’s performance brand released its first-ever commercial, and it plays up the fact that its cars have more than just bodies – they have souls.
Feature Flick: F1 Champ Sebastian Vettel Visits Automobile Magazine
We’re accustomed to having all sorts of movers and shakers in the automotive world pop into the Automobile offices on occasion, but it’s not every day the reigning Formula 1 world champion walks through our doors. Yet that’s exactly what happened on Monday, when Sebastian Vettel – fresh off his win at the Montreal Grand Prix – stopped by to say hello.
Feature Flick: 2014 Chevrolet SS Makes Cameo in Holden Commodore Ad
In case you’ve forgotten, the 2014 Chevrolet SS is the American-spec version of Australia’s new Holden Commodore. As part of a triumphant new ad for the Commodore, Holden reminds us that, “when shipped to the States, [the] new Commodore becomes our new top-of-the-line Chevrolet sedan.”
Video: Is the 2013 Honda Civic Si Coupe a Match for the Competition?
Is the 2013 Honda Civic Si Coupe as good as the Ford Focus ST and Volkswagen GTI? In this new video, Motor Trend‘s Carlos Lago takes the refreshed sport compact to the drag strip, race track, and on mountain roads to find out.
Feature Flick: Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Hits the Track with Justin Bell
After drifting a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 through an empty parking garage, racer Justin Bell heads to the race track to stretch the Inferno Orange muscle car’s legs. This video starts with Bell drifting the Camaro ZL1 through an empty parking garage up to the roof. After noting that the parking garage’s confined space limits the use of the ZL1′s 580 hp, Bell decides to find a place to really stretch the muscle car’s legs – before the cops show up.
