BMW has given us photos and a smattering of information on the all-new 2012 3 Series. First revealed via photos posted to Facebook, the new 3 Series shows off an evolutionary look that will be familiar to BMW fans, and yet noticeably different from the current car.
Major visual changes for the new generation car, known by BMW as the F30, include new headlights which taper in toward the front grille, a strong character line running from the headlights along the underside of the greenhouse, a rounded and creased hood, and a mildly revised rear end with more creases for the bumper.
The car’s interior doesn’t seem to have been as significantly redesigned, with BMW’s trademark two-dial instrument cluster and rectilinear dashboard headlining the cabin, along with an iDrive display that appears to pop up from the dashboard.
For our market, power choices will consist of a 328i with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four producing 240, or the 335i model with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six producing 300 hp. A six-speed manual comes standard, with an eight-speed automatic transmission optional.
