Report: Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake to Launch in 2015?

A wagon version of the CLA may be in the cards for Mercedes.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class sedan already mimics the larger CLS-Class in terms of styling, and now it will reportedly begin to mimic the rest of the CLS model lineup as well. According to a report from Automotive News, Mercedes-Benz is planning to introduce a wagon version of the CLA-Class compact sedan in 2015, which could be called the Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake.

Mercedes-Benz already offers a CLS Shooting Brake in Europe (pictured), and it’s a particularly stylish interpretation of the station wagon thanks to its swoopy four-door-coupe roots. We don’t know whether the possible Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake would be offered in the U.S., but it would be based on the same front-wheel-drive platform that underpins the CLA sedan, the Euro-market A- and B-Class hatchbacks, and the upcoming GLA-Class compact crossover. Of these models, the CLA sedan is already on sale in the U.S., and the GLA-Class and B-Class will be coming to the U.S. next year, the latter as an electric vehicle.

In a Deep Dive from earlier this year, our European correspondent Georg Kacher also reported that a Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake was on the way. If these reports prove to be true, we can’t wait to see what a wagon version of the already stylish Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan will look like. At the same time, AN reports that Mercedes has dropped plans to offer convertible or roadster versions of the CLA-Class.
