The Problem: A shorting bar inside the driver’s airbag may sometimes contact the air bag terminals, meaning that if the two are in contact during a crash, the airbag will not deploy. The airbag light will illuminate if the shorting bar contacts the terminals.
The Fix: Dealers will replace the steering wheel air bag coil, which eliminates the possibility of contact between the shorting bar and the terminals.
