Recall Central: Recalls Issued for Toyota Avalon, Lexus LX470, Volvo S80

The latest recall from Japanese auto giant Toyota concerns Avalon sedans produced from 2000 to 2004, as well as Lexus LX470 sport utility vehicles produced from 2003 to 2007. A recall notice from the National Highway Safety Institute’s Office of Defects Investigation also concerns Volvo S80 sedans produced from 2007 to 2010.

2000 – 2004 Toyota Avalon
The problem: Steering lock bars have the potential to crack in some circumstances.
The fix
: Toyota will replace the steering column bracket in a voluntary recall. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified in late August.
Number of vehicles affected
: 373,000 (est.)

2003 – 2007 Lexus LX470
The problem: The snap ring on the steering shaft can disengage on harsh surfaces, potentially causing the steering shaft to disengage.
The fix: Lexus will replace the snap ring with one of a different design. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified in late August.
Number of vehicles affected: 39,000 (est.)

2007 – 2010
Volvo S80
The problem: The tires and tire pressure monitoring system have incorrect figures for maximum inflatable pressure.
The fix: Volvo will update tires with a new, correct label, as well as update the monitoring system’s software.
Number of vehicles affected: 3635
