Recall Central: Mercedes-Benz Recalls 5800 Vehicles for Cracked Fuel Filter Flange

2011-2012 Mercedes-Benz S400, S550, S550 4Matic, S63 AMG, C300, C300 4Matic, E350, GLK350, GLK350 4Matic, CL550 4Matic, and CL63 AMG

The Problem: There may have been a problem in the molding process of the fuel filter flange, which could cause the flange to crack during high-temperature operation. If the crack occurs, it will cause a fuel leak; if an external ignition source is present, the leak could cause a fire.

The Fix: Starting in January 2013, Mercedes will notify owners and have dealers replace the filter free of charge. Owners can also contact the manufacturer at 1-800-367-6372 regarding recall 12V-557.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: A total of 5800 vehicles produces between April 18 and July 12, 2011. Mercedes-Benz has not announced the exact number of the specific models, but 2011-2012 S400, S550, S550 4Matic, S63 AMG, C300, C300 4Matic, E350, GLK350, GLK350 4Matic, CL550 4Matic, and CL63 AMG cars and crossovers are being recalled.
