Recall Central: 2001-2004 Mazda Tribute, 2013-2014 Jaguar XJ, XF, XK

2001-2004 Mazda Tribute

The Problem: In high-corrosion environments, such as cold-weather states that use lots of road salt in winter, the subframe may corrode to the point where it separates from the front lower control arm, making it more difficult to control the direction of the vehicle. A similar recall was previously issued for the related 2001-2004 Ford Escape SUV, which was twinned with the Tribute.

The Fix: Mazda dealers will install a newly designed reinforcement cross-brace free of charge. Once parts become available in May, owners of affected vehicles will receive a letter notifying them to have the parts installed at their Mazda dealer.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 109,000 Mazda Tribute SUVs, model years 2001-2004, that are registered in or were sold in high-corrosion states, including Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island. Mazda is also keeping tabs on vehicles in other states as well, and affected customers will be notified in May.

2013-2014 Jaguar XJ, XF, XK

The Problem: The toe links, which are used to control the alignment of the rear wheels, can separate from the rear sub-frame. This may affect vehicle stability and directional control because the rear wheels might change direction.

The Fix: Jaguar dealers will replace the nut and washer assembly on the toe links free of charge, starting around May 27.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 279 2013-2014 Jaguar XJ, XF, and XK models

2014 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque

The Problem: Bolts connecting the right rear suspension link arm may have been damaged during the production process, meaning that the link arm could separate from the vehicle.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the connecting bolts on affected vehicles free of charge.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: Two 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque models
