Recall Central: BMW Recalls 3-Series for Potential Taillight Failure

2002-2005 BMW 325i, 325ix, 330i, and 330ix models are being recalled for potential rear tail lamp failures which may cause collisions.

The Problem: According to BMW, resistance in the electrical contacts may cause one or more rear lamp functions to stop working, including taillight, brake light, and/or turn signal light. The lights may work intermittently reducing the lights’ ability to warn others of the BMW driver’s intentions, which may lead to a vehicle crash.

The Fix: BMW will notify owners and dealers in October 2011. BMW dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge.

Number of Vehicles Affected: BMW says 241,000 vehicles built between September 1, 2001 and March 1, 2005 may be affected.
