292,879 Cruze vehicles recalled for braking problems.

The Problem: Cars can exhibit a loss of braking assist in certain situations; GM says it has received reports of 27 low-speed crashes related to this issue. In these instances, the driver may have to exert more pressure on the brake pedal than usual to bring the car to a stop.

The Fix: Dealers will remove a microswitch in the power brake vacuum pipe assembly and replace the microswitch at no charge to owners.

Number of Vehicles Potentially Affected: 292,879 2011 and 2012 model year Cruze vehicles are being recalled. The recall includes only vehicles with the 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and six-speed automatic transmission combination. Only Cruze models assembled in GM’s Lordstown, Ohio plant are included in this recall.
