For children of the ’80s, Lamborghini will always be synonymous with the Countach, “Cannonball Run” and jackknife doors. But in terms of sales volume, the brand’s real star has been the Gallardo, which holds the distinction of being the brand’s best-selling model of all time. But if you’re a fan of a (relatively) moderately-priced Lamborghini V-10 coupe, although it’s curtains for the Gallardo, fear not, an even fiercer, faster replacement is in the wings with the 2015 Lamborghini Huracan. Interest in the new model is so strong, that Lamborghini said it has received 700 pre-orders for the car.
Before the first car has even been delivered to a customer, Lamborghini claims 700 pre-orders for the new model from a private preview tour to its VIP customers. The production Huracan will be officially revealed at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show in March.
Although the Gallardo was no slouch with up to 562 hp in the later 5.2-liter models, the Huracan will out-power its predecessor right out of the chute by more than 40 hp with 610 hp. This formidable powerplant in conjunction with the Huracan’s standard all-wheel-drive, promises a 0-60 time of around three seconds flat, and a top speed of 202 mph.
