Potent Panamera: Techart Extracts an Extra 80 HP from the 2010 Porsche Panamera

Earlier this year, German tuning firm Techart unveiled its Black Edition Porsche Panamera, which encompassed only aesthetic upgrades. Techart has taken the wraps off its latest Panamera upgrade, which actually adds a significant amount of power to the speedy sedan.

Dubbed the “Power Kit,” the upgrade is simply a software upgrade that allows the Panamera Turbo to perform at its fullest potential. The package extracts an extra 80 horsepower from the already potent 4.8-liter twin-turbo V-8, bringing its gross power figure to 580 horsepower. A sprint from 0 to 62 mph now takes 3.8 seconds, compared to the stock Turbo’s 4.2, and reaching 124 mph from a dead stop now takes just 12.5 seconds, as opposed to 13.2. Top-speed Autobahn runs are now 17 mph faster than before, with the tuned Turbo able to reach 205 mph.

The team from Techart can add its Power Kit to any Panamera Turbo.. Owners will be able to access the boost through a console-mounted sport button. Techart says that the upgrade will not affect the sedans’ durability and backs its claims with the same two-year warranty on the programming as it does on all other parts in its catalog. The product will be available at authorized Techart dealers next month, but pricing has not yet been disclosed.

We’re all for easy power upgrades, and this upgrade will make the lightning-quick Panamera Turbo even faster. Have you expanded your car’s performance with a chip upgrade? Let us know your experience in the comments section and in Forums.
