Porsche has recently released information about four new performance accessories it is offering to compliment its bread-and-butter 911 model range.
Of the accessories available, the five-spoke Sport Classic wheels is the only upgrade to add a bit of retro appeal. Lifted from the limited edition 911 Sport Classic, the wheels reinterpret the iconic Fuchs alloys supplied to 911 models from the late 1960s through the late 1980s. With the spokes and hub painted black and the lip left in clear coat, the wheel bears an uncanny resemblance to 911s of yesteryear. Porsche says the 19-inch wheels are 8.5 inches wide up front and 11.5 inches wide in the rear and will fit the 911 Carrera, Targa, and Turbo at €5569 ($7922) per set.
Also new to the options list is Porsche’s three-spoke sports steering wheel with PDK shift paddles. With a leather-wrapped rim and longer metal paddles (upshifts on the right, downshifts on the left), Porsche says the wheels is more ergonomically suited for performance driving, with paddles that are easier to access in a broader array of hand positions. The wheel is available for not just the 911, but also the Boxster, Cayman, and Panamera models equipped with PDK. In August 2010, the wheel will also be able to be used on the Cayenne with Tiptronic S. The wheel is priced at €940 ($1202).
On offer for 911 owners who want to take their car to the next level style-wise, Porsche’s new Aerokit Cup is designed to emulate the special body package found on the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup race cars. Available for all 911 coupe models, the kit is comprised of a new front valence with trim bars in the center air intake and a new spoiler lip. The rear part of the kit features a new engine hood with integrated spoiler and costs €4968 ($6351) when ordered with a new car, including paint and fitting. To retrofit the kit to existing cars costs €4522 ($5779), plus paint and fitting.
For owners of 911 coupes that find the Aerokit Cup too strong, or owners of 911 cabriolets that the Aerokit won’t fit, Porsche is offering a Sport Design front air dam with aerodynamic attributes that have been matched to the stock rear spoiler. The cost is €2368 ($3026) pre-fitted and painted at ordering, or €2160 ($2761) plus paint and fitting to add on to a pre-existing car.
Porsche has not yet announced U.S. pricing and availability, though all four options are expected to be available globally.
