Pimp My Cincequento: Mopar Releases Over 150 Accessories for 2012 Fiat 500

If Fiat wasn’t already gunning for Mini with its 500 subcompact, it is now. Mopar and Fiat has just released over 150 new aftermarket accessories for the 2012 Fiat 500, ranging from shift knobs, to decals, to roof racks.

“The Fiat 500 is one of the most customized vehicles in Europe,” Mopar CEO PietroGorlier said in a prepared release. “We expect that trend to continue here in North America. Our all-new Fiat 500 is the perfect canvas for customization.”

The accessories will range in price from as low as $21 for a chrome gas cap to a $1400 full body kit. Although the full list of parts for the 500 has yet to be released, Mopar has picked out some of its favorites for different groups of people.

Technophiles: Fiat offers the same UConnect Web service as other Chrysler vehicles, whichessentially turns your car into a mobile WiFi hotspot. For $399 plus a monthly subscription fee, an in-vehicle router will receive a wireless 3G signal and send WiFi signal up to 150 feet away from the car.

Historians/ Retro Geeks:For $89, you can pick up a chrome hood spear that evokes the chrome trim on the hood of the original Fiat 500.  A variety of roof and hood graphics – ranging from flags to patterns – running from $319 to $534. Body stripes are also offered in a wide array of sizes and colors, running from $409 to $439.

Outdoorsy/ Active Lifestyle Folks: Fiat has a set of roof racks that can hold bikes, snowboards, and water skis. For $399, Mopar will sell you a removable roof rack, and for an additional $116, you can get a roof carrier. $291 brings home a carrier system that attaches to the rear hatch.

Our Favorites: How kind of you to ask. The $48 custom key cover – fun, interchangeable, and fashionable — come in sets of two and are the easiest way todress up both you and your 500. There’s also no denying the cheekiness of the full car cover that looks like a classic 500, although it does run a steep $849.

Most of the Mopar accessories for the 2012 Fiat 500 are available now, with the entire line appearing in dealerships throughout the rest of the year.
