Texas’ largest Lotus dealership, Lotus of Austin, delivered the first 2010 Evora in North America today, said automaker. The celebration of the storied brand’s latest 2+2 will continue tonight with a soiree.
Last November, Lotus mentioned its first two months of production slated for the U.S. were quickly sold out. Only 2000 Evoras are to be built annually, and start in price at $73,500. All that dough gets you a Lotus-massaged 276-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6, six-speed manual transmission, and a number of luxurious interior goodies wrapped in an extruded and bonded lightweight aluminum chassis.
It’s a truly unique vehicle. Lotus claims it’s the only car in the world that can reach 60 mph in under 5 seconds, top 160 mph, and deliver more than 30 mpg on the highway (U.S. EPA figures are only estimates for now).
