After spilling all the beans on its new wide-bodied 2011 Impreza WRX, Subaru decided to release only this single teaser image of its new 2011 WRX STI before publicly unveiling it this week at the 2010 New York auto show.
What’s new for 2011? Well, it seems safe to say the gargantuan rear wing — long a staple of STI cars — returns, although it seems to have grown taller, resembling those previously used on Subaru’s WRC rally cars. Some buzz suggests Subie is also interested in launching a four-door STI model to accompany the hatchback, but we’ll have to wait until Subaru pulls that pesky cloth off the car to know for certain.
Look for more information on the new 2011 WRX STI to break on April 1, when Subaru holds its press conference at the NY show. Stay with Automobile Magazine for the latest news on both the STI and other new debuts from the New York Auto Show.
