2012 marks the Nissan Altima’s 20th anniversary. How is Nissan celebrating? With a special-edition option package for the 2012 Altima, of course.
The package adds several cosmetic goodies to the exterior and interior, including 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, rear spoiler, automatic headlights, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. As for tech upgrades, Bluetooth, and Homelink also come as part of the package. MSRP for the package is $950.
Now in its fourth generation, the Altima has come a long way since its introduction in 1992. Since then, an Altima Sedan Hybrid coupe joined the lineup for the 2007 model year (2011 was its last year), while an Altima coupe was launched for the 2008 model year. Powered by a 175-hp 2.5-liter I-4 (V-6 also available), the Altima outperformed mid-size competitors in 2011. October 2011 year-to-date sales reported 222,392 units of the Altima were sold, while the Hyundai Sonata, Honda Accord, and Ford Fusion pulled in 192,953, 203,603, and 206,533 units, respectively.
