Nissan GT-R and Toyota GT86 Among Winners at Nurburgring 24

The Nurburgring 24 Hour race last week featured two strong contenders from Japan. The Nissan GT-R and Toyota GT86 each took home some victories.
Gazoo Racing entered two Toyota GT86 cars in the SP3 class, in which one earned first place and the other finished third. Overall, the two GT86s finished 46th and 65th,respectively. ToyotaSwiss Racing also raced two GT86s with one placing first in the V3 class and 78th overall, while the second car didn’t finish. Gazoo also raced a Lexus LFA in the SP8 class where it placed first and 15th overall.
Meanwhile, the team from the Nissan Gran Turismo Academy participated in the race with a Nissan GT-R Club Track Edition, which we caught testing on the same track just last month. GT Academy winner-turned-racer Lucas Ordonez piloted the GT-R in the SP8T class along with teammates Kazunori Yamauchi, Yasukichi Yamamoto, and Tobias Schulze.
“I started my first stint quite carefully,” Ordonez said. “It is a lot of fun to overtake on the Nordschleife so I had a great time but I was also aware that a lot of big crashes were happening in the opening stages so I was careful too.”
After completing 136 laps in 24 hours, 5 minutes, and 56.565 seconds, the team placed first in their class and 32nd overall. They were later boosted to 30th overall due to disqualifications.
