The spy shots from Sweden continue. BMW’s upcoming M5 was recently caught undergoing some cold weather testing — but from what we hear, the latest M sedan will be quite hot.
Long gone is the V-10 and a more potent turbocharged V-8 takes its place. It’s most likely the same mill found in the 547-hp X6 M, but is said to be lighter, more efficient, and most importantly, more powerful. We hear the engine will likely be mated to a lightning-quick dual-clutch gearbox.
Engineers are said to be experimenting with lighter body materials (such as carbon fiber) to reduce weight and improve overall performance and efficiency.
Whatever the end result is, Jaguar, Cadillac, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi will surely have to watch out.
