Mitsubishi isn’t supposed to release the official details on its U.S.-spec 2011 Outlander Sport until tomorrow, but we managed to scope out the new compact crossover on the automaker’s New York auto show stand a little early.
If it looks mildly familiar, it should. We’ve seen this model at other shows, labeled as the RVR in Japan and the ASX in Europe. We’ve yet to see specifications for the federalized form of the Lancer-based crossover, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see Mitsubishi’s 2.0-liter I-4 underhood, possibly sending power to all four wheels via the company’s S-AWC all-wheel-drive system.
We’ll know more for certain tomorrow, when Mitsubishi is expected to release a flood of information. Stay with Automobile Magazine for the latest on the 2011 Outlander Sport, along with other news and information breaking at the 2010 New York International Auto Show.
