New Look: Lexus Shows LF-LC Blue Concept in Australia, Boasts Around 500 HP

Lexus Australia introduced a second version of the bold LF-LC concept at the Australian International Motor Show with the LF-LC Blue concept. Apart from sporting a cool blue color, the new concept has also been upgraded with more carbon fiber.

Inspired by a semi-precious opal stone found in the Australian Outback, the concept was coated in an Opal Blue color – But that’s not the only thing that sets the Aussie concept apart from the red car shown at the Detroit show earlier this year. Lexus Australia says the Blue LF-LC concept has achieved a lighter body mass thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber and aluminum, much like the LFA supercar.

Like the Detroit show car though, the Blue concept retains the same gaping, spindle-shaped mesh grille, swept-back headlights, and stubby trunk. Other similar design elements include a wrap-around panoramic glass roof and vertical fog lamps with fading dot-matrix-style housings in the front and rear. Taillights look futuristic with a jet afterburner-inspired look.

Also like the first concept, high-tech controls and infotainment systems are found inside the white and brown interior, including a number of touch-screen boards to help the driver remain focused on the road. Two 12.3-inch LCD screens display vehicle information and navigation, with an extra pop-up screen for complex entries. Both doors are also fitted with touch-screen surfaces that control windows, mirrors, seat adjustments, and personal entertainment settings. Interior surfaces are covered in leather, suede, and metallic and wood accents, while the steering wheel is clad in carbon fiber.

Powering this cool concept is the Japanese automaker’s Advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive, which uses an Atkinson-cycle engine and a smaller battery pack than those found in current Lexus hybrid cars. Lexus says combined output is 498 hp, the most of any hybrid in its lineup.
