New 2013 Nissan Altima Photos Hit the Internet

More photos of the 2013 Nissan Altima have been posted on the automaker’s website. Like previous refreshes and subsequent generations, Nissan has made incremental changes to the Altima, now giving it the brand’s latest stylizing cues.

The new 2013 Altima is slightly larger than the outgoing model, gaining 0.8 inches in length and 1.3 inches in width, though it remains on the same wheelbase. Nissan also redesigned the greenhouse to give it more of a four-door coupe-like profile, which has become a popular trend in the segment. Headlights and taillights gain Nissan’s signature kink also on the Maxima and 370Z.

Initially, the 2013 Nissan Altima will be available with a182-hp2.5-liter I-4 producing 180 lb-ft of torque or a 270-hp 3.5-liter V-6. EPA-rated mileage on the four-cylinder improves from 23/32 mpg city/highway to 27/38 mpg while the V-6 engine increases from 20/27 mpg to 22/30 mpg. Both engines are mated to Nissan’s latest CVT. A hybrid model will eventually supplement the two gas-only engines.

New safety technologies on the Altima include blind-spot and lane-departure warning systems, as well as Active Understeer Control that can proactively apply the front brakes when cornering to keep the car on the driver’s intended course. Stay tuned for our First Drive story on the 2013 Nissan Altima, which arrives on Friday.
