How do you celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Morgan 4/4? Why, with a special-edition model, of course. Creatively dubbed the 4/4 75th Anniversary Edition, the traditionalist roadster benefits from the larger engine from the Morgan Plus 4.
The standard Morgan 4/4 has a 1.6-liter inline-four engine that makes 110 hp, but the Anniversary model gets a 2.0-liter version with 145 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque. Given the 4/4’s low curb weight of 2024 pounds, Morgan says a 0-to-62-mph time of 7.2 seconds is possible.
The car wears a unique matte-black stripe and “4/4 75th” graphics, and is available painted only in Sport Black, Sport Red, or Old English White. A black convertible top, narrow fenders, polished door handles, and special circular mirrors also are standard. The interior receives black leather seats, an ash dashboard, three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel, and black carpets.
The Morgan 4/4 was launched in 1936 and has been changed very little during that time. Indeed, the roadster’s lack of modern safety and emissions gear preclude it from being sold in the U.S. market. Pricing for the 75th Anniversary Edition car starts at £38,750 in the U.K., the equivalent of about $60,500.
