More Audi Diesels Headed to the United States….For a Price

More Audi diesels are headed to these shores in the near future. However, a hefty premium will accompany them.

“There is a very, very high level of investment, and nobody today knows if the return will come,” Audi CEO Rupert Stadler told Automotive News.

Audi would like to see around 25 percent of its U.S. sales made up by diesels. The Audi Q7 diesel is currently surpassing that target, with a 35 percent take rate. If this trend continues, the German automaker may see better results than hoped.

The real test, though, will be what happens when Audi ceases to subsidize the extra cost of these vehicles.
