Monterey CA Parking Ticket

I was at Pebble Beach over the weekend and got a parking ticket. But not just any parking ticket…

If you let your parking meter expire, you can’t really complain when you return to your car and find a ticket. Same story if you decide to park in a no parking zone. But some tickets just get you a little bit angry.

This past Friday, I parked in a ramp in Monterey, California. After an hour or so, I returned and found a ticket on the windshield. Confused, I opened the envelope to find a $20 ticket (pictured above) for “violation of code MCC20-112, head-in parking only”. You see, I backed the car I was driving into the parking space. Now, can someone tell me why the city of Monterey won’t let you back into a parking spot?

A quick Google search revealed that I have now received a ticket that is on the list of the “five worst parking tickets” on a random website. I addition, I can’t find any reason why this law exists.

I am putting it down to yet another way for governments to bring in revenue and nothing else. Funny, it doesn’t look to me that Monterey needs more money.
